Aloe Vera Lotion—An Anti-Aging Lotion Recipe At Home
Aloe vera is honestly a part of
those natural treasures that your skin would not have enough of. Because it
calms and hydrates, and yes, even helps reduce signs of aging, it works well in
any DIY skincare project. Aloe vera is also a common ingredient in a variety of
skin products, and this homemade lotion mixes aloe with other natural materials
known to make wrinkles disappear while adding elasticity and leaving the skin
fresh and glowing. And the best part? It’s simple to make!
Here’s
What You’ll Need:
Here’s What You’ll Need:
· 2T fresh aloe vera gel (if possible, but bottled is ok)
o
1 tablespoon virgin coconut oil to
deeply moisturize and to add anti-aging antioxidants
§
1 tsp.almond oil (for additional
nourishment as this is high in vitamin e)
· Melted coconut oil, raw or melted – ½ tablespoon (increase
if you live in a drier climate too!) — organic shea butter could also be used
instead (optional for extra moistness)
—
1-2 drops of essential oil
(optional: I use this to scent it nice, either lavender or rose works great
here — OR omit if using a pathy)
Steps
to Make It:
1.
Step 1: Melt
coconut oil and shea butter.
For
beginners, melt coconut oil and shea butter (if you used it). Melt the
chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a double boiler, or in the microwave
(microwave 20 seconds at first, then continue to microwave if not completely
melted).
2.
Mix with Aloe Vera Gel
Let
the oils cool off and blend in the aloe vera gel (the oils can be mixed while
still hot as long as, ideally, they are a single mass).
Step 2: Add in
the Almond oil and essential oils
– Add almond oil, then a drop or two
of your favorite essential oil (lavender can be calming if you want to try
that, but whatever works).
Blend Until Creamy
DIRECTIONS Beat the lotion with a
whisk or hand blender (this is what I do) until it looks creamy smooth.
Store If you are
done as your lotion is now ready, pour it into a nonporous airtight container
and store in a cool dark place.
How to Use:
Dot
some lotion on your face and neck as you gently press it up. We suggest using
it at nighttime so that all the good stuff can be absorbed into your skin
whilst you sleep.
